Cracking or not cracking

Osteopathy and chiropractic are generally known for high-speed manipulation techniques. These techniques can cause cracking of the joint.

The exact cause of this noise is unknown. The most common hypothesis would be the explosion of the air bubble inside the joint at the time of the trust. The presence of this “crack” does not show that the technique succeeded and its absence does not indicate that the technique failed.

While these techniques can be impressive, they represent only a small danger. Moreover, the medical examination makes it possible to exclude pathologies contraindicating these techniques.

Personally, I prefer to use softer techniques of tissue release. I reserve the high-speed techniques for the ribcage and for the mechanical concerns resulting from intense physical effort. I no longer practice these techniques for the neck in particular.
