What is the difference between osteopathy and chiropractic?

Osteopathy and chiropractic are both holistic manual therapies.

Osteopathy and chiropractic are both holistic manual therapies.

Both aim to free the body from its mobility restrictions to allow it to function in the most optimal way.

In fact, the two are very close.

Osteopathy chooses to approach the human body through 3 systems:

  • The musculoskeletal system
  • The cranio-sacral system
  • The visceral and organic system

Chiropractic is only interested in the first two.

So for concerns about the digestive, gynecological sphere, osteopathy might be more appropriate.

Another difference is that chiropractic provides an international degree that ensures a uniqueness of learning. The teaching of osteopaths is more eclectic because it depends on each country.

Chiropractic is best known for « cracking ». In practice, the technical differences between osteopathy and chiropractic depend more on the choices and preferences of each practitioner. Personally, I use little   and reserve it for the dorsal spine.  . I prefer softer tissue techniques.
